Annie Sullivan was Helen's instructor as well as her teacher.She was sent by the Perkins Institute in Boston. They found her capable enough to educate Helen and she reached Helen's place in March. After her arrival Helen's life changed a lot.Apart from being a teacher and guide she was like a mother to Helen. She accompanied her wherever she went. Miss Sullivan was a person with a great amount of patience. Sometimes Helen used to through tantrums on Annie but she handled her very well.She taught her how to communicate by writing spellings of the words with her fingers.Annie was a perfect teacher who enjoyed spending time with Helen.
She taught her arithmetic, geography, zoology,history etc in a playful method. Helen never realized that she was being educated during the process of learning.She never missed an opportunity to teach Helen; whether it was academics or life skills.Annie's most instrumental effect was felt when she made Helen "THINK" that helped her to find a relation btw two things.Her nurturing and care helped a lost and lonely child to grow mature and explore the world around her.They both enjoyed being together. Miss Sullivan has truly been called a MIRACLE WORKER.She transformed a child who was locked in a dark and silent world into one who could read,write and speak.
