let Chetan has x rupees
he spends =x×60%= x×60/100 =6x/10
he saves= x-6x/10
( 10x-6x)/10
4x/10=240
4x=240×10
x= 2400/4
x= 600 Rs answer

Answer

if he spent 60% of 100% in buying groceries

(100-60)%=40 %

then 40% money is left in his pocket

if 40% mean rupees 240

then 1% means rupees to 240/40

then 100% means rupees 240/40 × 100 = rupees 600

  • the total amount of money he have in the beginning rupees 600.
