Answer:

180 cm.

900=90×10=90×(2×5)=(90×2)×5=180×5 and

720=90×8=90×(2×4)=(90×2)×4=180×4

180 is the greatest common factor for 900 and 720.

It is obvious that both ribbons can be cut into 90-cm long strips (10 strips for the 900-cm ribbon and 8 strips for the 720-cm ribbon), but because 10 and 8 are even, you could tie together pieces in pairs to make 5 tied-up strips from the 900-cm ribbon, and 4 from the 720-cm ribbon. Better yet, just cut 5 180-cm strips from the 900-cm ribbon, and 4 180-cm strips from the 720-cm ribbon.

Answer:

Total length of cloth Chaya has = 3m

Length of strip Chaya cuts each piece into = 1/4m

No of strips she will get :

= 3 ÷ 1/4

= 3/1 × 4/1

= 3 × 4 / 1 × 1

= 12

Therefore , Chaya will get 12 strips of cloth .
