The simple way by which you can check correctness of any equation is the dimensional analysis ••••>
Here v and u are the velocities and their dimensions are [LT^−1] and the dimension of acceleration (a) is [LT^-2] & dimension of distance (s) is [L] .
So , the dimension of [v2−u2] =[LT^-1]2= [L^Y^−2]
& dimension of [2as]= [LT^-2][L]= [L2T−2]
So the dimension of L.H.S and R.H.S are same .
Therefore the we can say that the equation is correct .
