Answer:x²-2x+1

x²-x-x+1

x(x-1)-1(x-1)

x-1

So, x-1 is the factor of the polynomial x²-2x+1

Answer:

x-1 is a factor but x+5 isn't a factor

Step-by-step explanation:

(I).

let x-1 be equation 1

from this , x=1

For x^2-2x+1 , at x=1

» (1)^2-2(1)+1=0

» 1-2+1=0

» 0=0

Hence , x-1 is a factor of x^2-2x+1

(II).

let x+5 be equation 2

from this x= -5

For x^2-2x+1 , at x= -5

» (-5)^2-2(-5)+1=0

» 25+10+1=0

»36=0

But , 36≠0

Hence , we can conclude that x+5 isn't a factor of x^2-2x+1
