Given :

No, g(x) = 2 - 5x is not a factor of p(x) = -5x² - 3x² +7x - 2

Solution :

g(x) = 2 - 5x

2 - 5x = 0

x = 2/5

p(x) = -5x³ - 3x² + 7x - 2

= -5(2/5)³ - 3(2/5)² + 7(2/5) - 2

= -8/25 - 12/25 + 14/5 - 2

= (-20 + 70)/5 - 2

= 10 - 2

= 8

As the remainder is not zero, g(x) is not the factor of p(x).
