now simple for showing a,b,c are ap

the formula should be matched

2b=a+c

so now

2(a-5)=a-3+a-7

2a-10=a+a-10

so L.H.S =R.H.S

To check whether the sequence is in AP or not we check that the common difference is same or not.

So,

D1 = (a-5) - (a-3) = a-5-a+3 = -2

and, D2 = (a-7) - (a-5) = a-7-a+5 = -2

Since, D1 = D2

∴ (a-3), (a-5) and (a-7) are in A.P.
