  • - 2 is a zero of the polynomial x + 2

  • 2 is not a zero of the polynomial x + 2

Given :

The polynomial x + 2

To find :

Check whether - 2 and 2 are the zeros of the polynomial x + 2

Solution :

Step 1 of 3 :

Write down the given polynomial

Let p(x) be the given polynomial

Then p(x) = x + 2

Step 2 of 3 :

Check - 2 is a zero of the polynomial or not

Putting x = - 2 in p(x) we get

p( - 2) = - 2 + 2 = 0

So - 2 is a zero of the polynomial

Step 3 of 3 :

Check 2 is a zero of the polynomial or not

Putting x = 2 in p(x) we get

p( 2) = 2 + 2 = 4 ≠ 0

So 2 is not a zero of the polynomial
