To check whether -3 is a root of the equation or not we just have to put -3 in the equation. if after simplification we get zero ( 0 ) then it is a solution of the equation.

 {x}^{2}  + 6x + 9 = 0

 { - 3}^{2}  + 6 \times ( - 3) + 9 = 0

9 - 18 + 9 = 0

18 - 18 = 0

0 = 0

hence the result is zero after simplification of the polynomial. therefore -3 is the root of the equation.
