3x = - 7

x = - 7 / 3

put value of x in eq. (1) , we get

p ( - 7/ 3 ) = 3( -7 / 3)^3 + 7 ( - 7 / 3 )

p ( - 7/ 3 ) = - 1029 / 27 - 49 / 3

= - 38.11 - 16.33

= -54.44

p ( - 7 / 3 ) is not equal to 0.

hence ,
7 + 3x is not a factor of 3x^3 + 7x
