f(p) = p^100-1

g(p) = p^101-1

Check (p+1) if

(p+1) is a factor of f & g function.

f ( - 1 ) = ( - 1 ) ^ 100 - 1

     = 1 - 1

     = 0

g ( - 1) = ( - 1 ) ^101-1

      = -1-1

      = -2

Hence (p+1) is a factor of f function but not g function
