Given : The set of alphabets in the word “CHURCH” and  x : x ∈ Z ,  0  < x < 5

To Find : sets equivalent or not

Solution:

A = The set of alphabets in the word  CHURCH

=> A = { C , H , U , R  }

=> n (A) = 4

B = { x : x ∈ Z ,  0  < x < 5 }

B = { 1 , 2 , 3 , 4 }

n (B)  = 4

Equivalent sets have  equal number of elements (may be same or different elements)

n(A) = n(B) = 4

Hence A & B are Equivalent sets

The set of alphabets in the word “CHURCH” and  x : x ∈ Z ,  0  < x < 5

are Equivalent sets

equal sets have same elements hence here A & B are not equal sets
