No , (x+1) is not a factor of x^{4} + x^{3} +x^{2} -5x+1

x+1 =0

x = -1

if i put the value of x as -1 we will not get 0 hence its not a factor

=  x^{4} + x^{3} +x^{2} -5x+1

= (-1)^{4} + (-1)^{3} +(-1)^{2} -5(1-1)+1

= 1 - 1 + 1 + 5 + 1

=6 ≠ 0
