Answer:

x+2 = 0

=> x = -2

Substituting (-2) at place of x,

p(x) = 2x³ + 3x² - 5x + 1

p(-2) = 2(-2)³ + 3(-2)² - 5(-2) + 1

= 2(-8) + 3(4) - (-10) + 1

= -16 + 12 + 10 + 1

= 7

Remainder is not equal to 0.

So, (x+2) is not a factor of the polynomial.
