f(x)=x3−2x2−5x+4

f(2)=(2)3−2(2)2−5(2)+4

⇒f(2)=8−2×4−5×2+4

⇒f(2)=8−8−10+4

⇒f(2)=−6.

Remainder is not 0, when x−2 divides the polynomial x3−2x2−5x+4. 

Thus x−2 is not a factor of polynomial x3−2x2−5x+4.
