Explanation:

Given :

x-2 is a factor of {x}^{3} - 4 {x}^{2} - x + 1 = 0

To check :-

Whether x-2 is a factor of given equation or not

x-2=0

x-2=0x=2

Now,put x's value in the given equation to check whether x-2 is a factor or not .

=>If the equation is equal to 0 after putting X's value or in other words if x satisfy the given equation and makes equal to 0 then we say that (x-2) is a factor.

 = > {(2)}^{3} - 4 {(2)}^{2} - 2 + 1

 = > 8 - 4 \times 4 - 2 + 1

 = > 8 - 16 - 2 + 1

 = > - 8 - 1 = - 9

 = > - 9≠0

Here, the given equation is not equal to 0

so,(x-2) is not the factor of given equation.
