If (x-2) is the factor of given polynomial then on dividing with the polynomial, say p(x), should leave remainder zero.
(x-2) | x^3 -3x^2 +2x -1 | x^2 -x
x^3 -2x^2
(-) (+)
---------------------------------------
-x^2 + 2x -1
-x^2 + 2x
(+) (-)
---------------------------------------
-1
which means it is not a factor of p(x)
Hope you will understand the above division.
