The retina of an owls eye has an abundance of light sensitive rod shaped cells called rod cells
these cells are very sensitive to light
Because Owl have large number of rods than cones on its retina.

As owl have good night version for few reasons. They have big eyes which help to take more light rays which make to see faint during day but not at night . They have a special Tepetum lucidum like a mirror that help them to see during night .
