checks and balances also known as horizontal power sharing is the arrangement of power sharing in which power is shared among different organs of government, such as the legislature. executive and judiciary.
it allows different organs of government placed at the same level to exercise different powers hence the name horizontal power sharing.
this type of arrangement ensures separation of power and prevent the exercise of unlimited power.
each organ checks the other.this results in a balance of power among various institutions.
hopefully it helps!!! ALL THE BEST :)
