1. The chemical formula of baking powder is sodium hydrogencarbonate (NaHCO3).
Sodium hydrogencarbonate on heating gives Na2CO3 salt and CO2 gas which will turn lime water milky.
2NaHCO3 ---heat-->
Na2CO3 + H2O + CO2
2.Washing soda is sodium carbonate (Na2CO3.10H2O).
When this sodium carbonate is heated it gives sodium carbonate and water and no gas is evolved.
Na2CO3.10H2O --heat--->
Na2CO3 + 10H2O
3.On heating gypsum (CaSO4.2H2O) at 373 K, it loses water molecules and become calcium sulphate hemihydrate (CaSO4.1/2H2O ). This is called Plaster of Paris.
CaSO4.2H2O--heat at 373K--->
CaSO4.1/2H2O
