hi friend .....
There are certain chemical reactions which are accompanied with change in color of the products.....
here is the example....
when crystal of copper carbonate, which are in green in color, are heated strongly then it forms a black compound of copper oxide off carbon dioxide gas...

CuCO3--------}CuO+CO2
