hey buddy !! here's your answer....

the valency of SO4 radicle is -2 .

so to balance it ... two atoms of sodium are required as sodium has +1 valency .

hence the formula is Na2SO4.

hope it helps !! ❤️✌️

The formula of Sodium Sulphate is Na2So4.

It is so because, the oxidation number (or valency) of sulphate functional group (SO4) is -2. It means we need +2 oxidation numbered atom to form a compound.

The valency of Sodium is +1, so we beed 2 Sodium atoms to make a compound.

That's why the formula is Na2SO4.

If there is Magnesium, then the formula will be MgSO4, because valency of Mg is 2.
