Group I elements:
- They consist hydrogen (H), Lithium (Li), Sodium (Na), Potassium (K), Rubidium (Rb) and Caesium (Cs). Note: Hydrogen's chemical properties differ from the rest
- They are also called "Alkali metals".
- They are very reactive.
- All alkali metal compounds are stable, this is because the alkali metals are so reactive.
- Alkali metals have to be extracted from their ores by electrolysis
- Alkali metal compounds are usually colourless
- The hydroxides are strong alkalis
