Phosphorus pentoxide (P₂O₅ or P₄O₁₀) on reaction with water produces Phosphoric acid.

P₄O₁₀ + 6 H₂O -------------> 4 H₃PO₄

Phosphorus trioxide (P₂O₃ or P₄O₆) on reaction with water gives Phosphorous acid.

P₄O₆ + 6 H₂O --------------> 4 H₃PO₃
