Reactions that give out energy are called exothermic reactions. The temperature of the surroundings gets higher as the reaction takes place.

On the other hand, some reactions take in energy from their surroundings. We call this type of reaction an endothermic reaction. In

endothermic reactions the temperature of the surroundings decreases. If the reaction takes place in a test tube, it feels cold when you touch it (the reacting mixture will take in energy from your fingers)...

Hello Dost ☺

Answer :

Exothermic reaction and endothermic reaction:

On the basis of energy changes during chemical reaction, they can be classified as

i) Exothermic reaction: A chemical reaction in which heat energy is produced.

Eg : C + O2 → CO2 (g) + heat

ii) Endothermic reaction: A chemical reaction in which heat energy is absorbed.

Eg : CaCO3 + Heat → CaO + CO2

Thanks ☺
