1. It was so because the iron of pot reacted with CuSO4 to form FeSo4 and displaced Cu from its sulphate because Fe is more reactive than Cu. But when FeSO4 is placed copper vessel the Cu cannot displace Fe from its sulphate ( as it is less reactive) . And when Fe reacts with CuSO4 the iron is removed from the vessel and hence holes are formed .
