Answer: The chemical test required is Tollen's test. As we know, Tollen's Reagent is AgNO3 + NH4OH i.e 2[Ag(NH3)2] + 3OH . So, when we treat Butanal with Tollen's Reagent , it will react to form Silver mirror.
But in case of Butan-2-one , it doesn't reduce Tollen's Reagent.
