hey mate.... here is your answer...
- the first test and the most basic one is burning the hydrocarbon... an unsaturated hydrocarbon burns with a sooty,yellow flame whereas a saturated one burns with a pale blue flame (it undergoes complete combustion)
- the second test is the bromine water test... unsaturated hydrocarbons decolorize the bromine water but saturated ones do not
