Sodium carbonate is obtained as three different hydrates and as the anhydrous salt: sodium carbonate decahydrate (natron), Na2CO. 10H2O, which readily effloresces to form the monohydrate. sodium carbonate heptahydrate (not known in mineral form), Na2CO.
