Answer:

Phenol is more acidic than alcohols due to stabilisation of phenoxide ion through resonance. Presence of electron withdrawing group increases the acidity of phenolby , stabilising phenoxide ion while presence of electron releasing group decreases the acidity ofphenol by destabilising phenoxide ion.
