Dalton proposed his theory, the very first atomic theory, in 1808. According to this, atoms are indivisible.

But , this has been later proved wrong ..

In 1897, JJ Thompson discovered the negatively charged subatomic particle - the electron.

In 1911, Rutherford discovered the centre of the atom - the nucleus.

In 1920, Goldstein discovered the positively charged subatomic particle - the proton.

In 1932, James Chadwick discovered the neutral subatomic particle - the neutron.

Thus, Daltons theory of the indivisible atom does not hold true now.

Hope this helps
