- Explanation:
In 1808 John Dalton and and English scientist give or theory about the nature of matter. It is called altin atomic theory. The main features of Dalton's atomic theory are as following:
- Matter is made up of extremely small and indivisible particles called atoms.
- Atoms can neither be created nor destroyed.
- All the atoms of particular element are identical. They have the same size, mass, density and chemical properties.
- Atoms of different elements are different in size, mass, density and chemical properties.
- Atom of an element combine with the atoms of other elements to form molecules of compounds.
- Atoms are the smallest unit of an element that take part in a chemical reaction.
Atoms are made up of smaller particles which are known as: electrons, protons and neutrons. These particles are called subatomic particles or fundamental particles
- Electron was found by JJ Thomson and it has negative charge.
- Proton was found by E goldstein and it has positive charge.
- Neutron was found by James chadwick and it has neutral charge.
