Explanation:
- take three test tubes of same size and place a nail inside each test tube.
- Now, in the first test tube, fill water completely and seal it with the rubber cork so that no air is present in the test tube.
- In the second test tube , fill it with air and seal with rubber cork.
- In the third test tube, fill water to half the height and remaining with air and seal with the rubber cork.
- Leave the three test tubes with out disturbing for 2-3 days.
- Now, observe the three test tubes.
- you observe that the test tube with both air and water has a rusted iron nail and no effect in the other two test tubes.
- Therefore, we can conclude that, both air and water are required for the iron to get rusted.
