Alkanes

Examples - Methane, Propane, Butane, etc.

Alkenes

An alkene is an unsaturated hydrocarbon in which the two carbon atoms are connected by a double bond.

General formula : \sf{ {C}_{n}{H}_{2n}}

Examples - Ethene, Propene, Butene, etc.

Alkynes

An alkyne is an unsaturated hydrocarbon in which the two carbon atoms are connected by triple bond.

General formula : \sf{ {C}_{n}{H}_{2n - 2}}

Examples - Ethyne, Propyne, Butyne, etc.
