hey buddy here is your answer..
everything according to giving statement
cost 1 pint of veggies=V
cost 1 pint of fruits=F
now as we can see he bought
5pints of veggies+7pint of fruits and paid $28.70
so we can say
5V+7F=$28.70----(1)
F=$2.85(given) put the value of F in eq(1)
5V+7(2.85)=28.70
5V+19.95=28.70
5V=28.70-19.95=8.75
V=8.75/5=1.75
So option A is right answer
Hope it helps..good luck
