chetan is 3 years elder to his wife naina who is 30 years elder to his daughter jyoti. if ratio of present ages of jeet to jyoti is 4:3 and chetan is 29 years older of his son jeet, then what is present average age of jeet and jyoti​

Let age of jeet be x,

and that of jyoti be y,

given,

Chetan's age = 29 + x (1)

Naina's age = 30 + y (2)

Also,

Chetan's age = 3 + (30 + y) = 33 + y (3)

From (1) and (3),

29 + x = 33 + y

33 - 29 = x - y

or, x - y = 4 (4)

Also, given, x:y = 4:3

or, 3x = 4y

x = 4y/3 (5)

Putting Eq. 5 in Eq. 4,

4y/3 - y = 4

4y - 3y = 12

y = 12 years

now, from eq. 5,

x = 4 × 12/3 = 4 × 4 = 16 years

Therefore,

age of jeet = 16 years and age of jyoti = 12 years
