Sham-uddin Iltutmish was the third ruler of slave dynasty . His reign was from 1211–1236.

After the constant attack of Mongols, he formed a group of nobles, 40 Turkish nobles which was known as Chahalgani.

After his death, Chahalgani opposed Razia for the throne. In the year 1240,when Razia was murdered by Bahram Khan.. Chahalgani one by one killed all the members of her family and made one of them to sat on the throne.

Ghyiasuddin Balban sat on the throne, who destroyed the group one by one.
