Children who have bad habits and are unwilling to mend their ways should be punished ? why/why not?

Yes, they must be punished. As they grow...their behavior can get worse and make them an unacceptable adult, it can be very difficult to corporate with such people. Therefore, parents \teachers or any other adults MUST correct the children even though it is through punishment, it will be for their betterment, they will understand that when they get older.
