Chinese civilization was cut off from the outside world and this prevented any foreign influence thus making them indigenous. Some of the essential features of the Chinese civilization were:

Education: Primary schools and high schools were established in villages and the only university was established in the capital for bringing excellence in education.

 Science:
They were well known for their aptitude in arithmetic and geometry.

Medicine and Surgery: The greatest contribution of the Chinese to the world in medicine so far has been anesthesia. Through it they made a patient senseless and operated in his body. Later on, this anesthesia was used in case of surgery as is today.

Paper: The Chinese were the first to invent paper which later on became one of the most valuable assets provided to the world by them.
