April 1973, is the right answer.

In the 1970s, an ordered opposition to the loss of forests grew throughout India, which is recognised as the Chipko Movement. The initial phase of the movement took place in the year 1793, in the  Mandal village, which later spread throughout many regions of the Himalayas in Uttar Pradesh. The initiative for this movement goes to a noted environmentalist Sunderlal Bahuguna.
