This movement is carried out in 1973 by the people of Reni village, chamoli district, Uttarakhand for the conservation of tree from being cut down.

the movement was carried in villages of BISHNOI mainly khejarli near rajastan.
Amrita devi along with her two daughters and 363 bihnois becamed martyrs for protection of trees by embracing the trees as the kings men were to cut them.later the king maharaja abhay singh realized his mistake and prohibited falling of trees and hunting near or in the bishnoi villages for this he issued a royal decree.
