Rani Lakshmibai ( born : 19 November 1828 [1] - Death : 18 June 1858) was the queen of the Maratha- ruled Jhansi kingdom and the second martyr of the 1857 state revolution , Veerangana (the first martyr Veerangana is Rani Avanti Bai Lodhi on 20 March 1858). He fought the army of the British Empire at the age of just 29 and Veeragati was achieved in the battlefield. It is said that Laxmibai was martyred with a sword on her head. [2]
