Hey mate !!

<b>b+p=50

2p+8=b

b-2p = 8

b+p = 50

(multiply bottom by two)

b - 2p = 8

2b + 2p = 100

(add)

3b = 108

108/3 = 36 = b

Book = 36 Rs

Hope this helps!!

Let the cost of pen be x
And the cost of book be 2x+8
According to the question
X+(2x+8)=50
3x=50-8
3x=42
X=42/3
X=14
The cost of the book =2×14+8
=28+8
=36
