Chloride ion reacts with silver ions according
to following.
Ag+ + Cl- -----> AgCI
It is found 10 cm3 of 0.05 M solution of chloride of a metal X needed 10 cm3 of a 0.1M Silver
nitrate solution for complete reaction which is the formula of the chloride?

Answer:

C.XCl2

Explanation:

Since the volumes are equal we can say that 1 mole of chloride requires 2 moles of AGNO3.

Therefore the metal is divalent and the chloride is XCl2.

Hope it helps

payalkumari40: can i ask another question?
anupama777vidya: Ok
payalkumari40: if the valences of a metal M are 2 and +3 and it combined with a radical X of valency -1, the possible formulae for the compounds formed would be?
anupama777vidya: 1)MX2
anupama777vidya: 2)MX3
payalkumari40: are you sure?
anupama777vidya: Yes provided the @valency of @radical is 1 and not -1
anupama777vidya: @Valency can't be @
payalkumari40: Okay thankyou.

Hey Guys Here is your answer

XCl2

Option (c) is correct answer..✏️✏️

explanation

required 22.4 cm3 of 0.1M hydrochloric acid for neutralisation. Find .... (i) Write the ionic equation for the reaction between silver ions and ...... (ii) Ag+ (aq) + CI− (aq) → AgCI (s).

When silver nitrate reacts with copper(II) chloride, silver chloride and copper(II) nitrate are produced. The balanced equation for this reaction is:

2AgNO3 (aq) + CuCl2 (s) → 2AgCl(s) + Cu(NO3)2(aq)
