Chlorine does not react with noble gases (Group 18 - monatomic and with spherical atoms).

Otherwise it is a strong oxidising agent and extremely reactive. An oxidising agent has the ability of oxidising other substances, by causing them to lose electrons which may be loss of hydrogen or addition of oxygen. Examples for oxidising agents are chlorine, hydrogen peroxide, oxygen and halogens.
