When Chlorine gas is passed through dry slaked lime ,it is rapidly absorbed,forming bleaching powder or chloride of Lime.The reaction is:
Ca(OH)2+Cl=CaOCl2+H2O.
Also water is formed with bleaching powder.
This blaching powder has many uses like manufacturing chloroform,making wool unshrinkable.
