Answer---  Chloroform.

IUPAC Name---Tri-Chloro-ethane

Explanation ---

Chlorine Reacts with the Ethanol to give Trichloroethane.

The Reaction occurs in the three steps.

In first step,

In this step, Chlorine oxidizes ethanol to the Aldehyde ethanal.

   2Cl₂ + CH₃CH₂OH --------------CH₃CHO + 2HCl

In Second Step,

    3Cl₂ + CH₃CHO -----------------CCl₃CHO + 3HCl

In third Step,

In this step, Base such as Potassium Hydroxide or Sodium Hydroxide reacts with the Organic Compound formed in the second reaction(CCl₃CHO) to form Chloroform or Trichloroethane and the methanoate ion.

     KOH + CCl₃CHO ------------------- CHCl₃ + HCOO⁻ + K⁺

Overall Reaction can be represented as---

 5Cl₂ + CH₃CH₂OH + KOH -------------- CHCl₃ + 5HCl + HCOO⁻ + X⁺

Thus, Option B. Chloroform is the Correct answer.
