Chloroform is slowly oxidised by Oxygen present in air in the presence
of light to Carbonyl Chloride -an extremely poisonous gas.so it is kept in dark coloured and sealed bottle,so that it does not react with sunlight.

chloroform is highly reactive that is it oxidises in the presence of air to give rise to a poisonous compound. so to restore its original properties, chloroform us stored in dark coloured and sealed bottle.
