Who discovered chloroplast

Answer

Konstantin Mereschkowski

Information

  • Andreas Schimper observed in 1883 that chloroplasts closely resemble cyanobacteria.
  • They absorb light to make sugar in a process called photosynthesis.
  • Chloroplasts work to convert light energy of the Sun into sugars that can be used by cells.
  • The entire process is called photosynthesis and it all depends on the little green chlorophyll molecules in each chloroplast.

Note

  1. Animal cells do not have chloroplasts.
