When passengers chew chocolates, the eustachian tube opens and balances the air pressure in the inner ear and outer war. ... It is because to balance atmosphere pressure. You see as the height increases then the inner part of the ear decrease.

Answer:

Chocolate is comfort food. Some people are nervous flyers. So chocolate is there to calm any slightly raw nerves of the aforementioned nervous flyers.

That, and most people like chocolate. It's part of the whole hospitality experience of flying. They have to make travelling in coach tolerable, else there might be a revolt due to the inconsiderate nature of some of the other passengers.

and another reason (scientific)

To balance air pressure. You see az the height increase the air pressure in outer part of ear decrease so to balance that eustachian tube present inside ear lets some air out from the mouth and if we keep on chewing chocolates the more air goes out . Thats the scientific reason.

Hope it helps
